We did this a couple weeks back. As everyoen else has stated. You begin walkign up the street past residential properties. once you hit the trail, you start to gain the feelign of a real hike. Narrow trails, creek crossings, hills, and large boulders. We did make it to the top of the second falls and were very curious to try the 3rd as some people were coming down (this is not recommended). The falls are quite beautiful. I would like to go back when the sun is shinign more to see the way the light will break through the trees.

Parking: Just as you turn off PCH on Winding Way, you have to park. 20 or more cars can park there, but this is a popular place, better go early and take a small car.
Walk along the road 1 mi to get to the trailhead. (Don't worry you can't miss the sign) Difficulty: This is a very gentle hike, short, shady, great for beginners, big payoff when you get to the falls. Crossing the picturesque meandering stream 5 times, perfect opportunity to be chivalrous, guys. The only confusing part...near the start of the real trail, the is a "T" in the path. Go Left. -Peter

awesome hike! don't stop til you see the second 50ft waterfall, its even better than the first. if you're feeling ambitious, you can even get to the top of the second one. great ocean views from there too. Also called "Winding Way" trail I believe. Some confusion if you make a wrong turn near the bottom, but ask people along the way. - andy - rating:5 stars - 2009-03-01

Now this was a real waterfall! Less than a week after a good rainfall, we visited Escondido Falls out in Malibu. The hike starts off a little weak, as you spend the first 3/4 mile walking next to a residential road near palatial malibu houses. But once you drop down into the canyon it becomes a whole new hike. With 5 river crossings there's always something to keep your eye on. And soon enough you get to the best waterfall in LA! - candice - rating:5 stars - 2006-04-09
