:Parking in the lot is $5. This is also the parking spot for the Inspiration Point trail.
If you want a nice 4.6 or so mile loop, this a great one! Park (pay $12) and walk to Inspiration Point. Great sweeping views of the San Gabriels, downtown and the Pacific. When looping away from the lot, there is a small unmarked trail to your right that descends quickly into the canyon.
After making your way down to the stream bed, a short detour will take you to a campsite, while in the other direction a trail snakes around the stream bed. This last 1.5 mile can be narrow, slippery and muddy, so be prepared! There are a few colored flags as trail markers, and they will eventually lead you out of the canyon and into the parking lot.
