  • slowfoot  - It's Gone! (almost)
As of 5-06-10, the trail entrance is still there but all the signs, fences, etc., have been cut off at ground level.

I used to like to bicycle from my home in Van Nuys to this beautiful little spot, but now, the picnic table that I always used to rest at is also gone.

There are survey marker sticks all over the place and it looks like they're really gonna do the place harm.

The parking lot is still there, and although I was able to get my bike into the park proper, I wouldn't try to drive in and park at risk of being cited.

    Farewell, old friend!

    (sniff, sniff. . .)
  • zack  - still open
I went to the trailhead to see if it was closed today, and it was still open. There are signs that say it is closing in april, but I called the number on the sign and they said it probably won't be closed for a while.

do you know what days it will be closed. Planing on going this Saturday, don't want to make the trip in vain if its closed :(
  • Jerry  - Lovely but closing soon
Great hike, esp. in the spring with lots of wildflowers. Unfortunately, they are announcing that the trail is to be closed due to the expansion of the 405. I hope this won't be a permanent closure.

Hiked up today and I really enjoyed myself. Would say this hike is easy for someone in decent physical condition. And moderate for someone out of shape. The view from the top of the trail is pretty astonishing! I couldn't help but smoke a bowl! - TiggerP - rating:3 stars - 2008-07-05

The trail itself is kinda crappy. It gets pretty narrow in some areas and the plants are overgrown, so a machete might help (kidding... sorta). However, once you get to the tippy top, you get a huge unobstructed view from the ocean to downtown LA. This is a great hike for someone who wants to do relatively little work to get a nice view of LA. Parking is $3, the kind you deposit money in an envelope. - Frank - rating:4 stars - 2007-08-27

Heavily overgrown in spots, and sports a fair amount of poison oak in season. - Andrea - rating:2 stars - 2007-02-20

Good for training. Not in really good condition and pretty hard for novice. Have not seen any ocean around :) - Mout1 - rating:2 stars - 2006-08-20
