  • Cindy  - This is one of my favorite hikes!
I'll post some pics later butI have a ton of pictures on my webpage at

I see some have taken the Rising Sun Trail--looks like that trail would have some great views, doing that one when it's not so hot. It's July and the falls are still going strong and everything is pretty and green. I'd highly recommend it!

I had so much fun on this trail. We started up through the Tropical Terrace trail and had so much fun exploring the abandoned buildings and seeing the stream and waterfall. Then we hiked up and West through the Rising Sun trail which was harder, but worth it when we saw the ocean view at the top. I recommend taking Rising Sun west so that you can see the ocean as you're walking down the mountain, as opposed to it being at your back. I had so much fun today on these trails. Today was a perfect day :) - Jennifer - rating:5 stars - 2007-07-08

You should definitely take the loop to the back, and then return on the fire road. the first part is a tiny bit tough, but the return is cake. it's a great hike, with beautiful views along the way of both the ocean and the canyon. We saw a little running waterfall at the end by the abandoned house, which is fun to explore as well. a real treasure! - genny - rating:5 stars - 2007-02-18

This hike has beautiful views. I suggest starting out with the hard part, The Rising Sun Trail, to the east, then returning on the fire road. - Candice - rating:5 stars - 2006-02-15
